30 Minutes features Culture of Peace Alliance (COPA) president Sat Bir Kaur Khalsa and Hannis Latham, from Tucson Chapter 13 from Veterans for Peace. The two groups are collaborating to show the film Joyeux Noel which tells the story of the 1914 Christmas Truce which took place during World War I between the Allies and the Germans in France.
The event takes place at DuVal Auditorium (UA Medical Center, 1501 N Campbell) on Dec. 21 at 1pm followed by a hour long discussion. KXCI’s Arizona Trails host Eb Eberlein closes out the show with a performance of John McCutcheon‘s Christmas in the Trenches, which also depicts the story of the Christmas Truce. This is the 100th year commemoration of this historic event that took place during World War I.
