The Documented Border with Luis Alberto Urrea

In October 2014, The University of Arizona Libraries, The Confluencenter for Creative Inquiry, The UA School of Art, The UA School of Journalism, and the Center for Border and Global Journalism convened to hold an opening event for The Documented Border Exhibit and Digital Archive.

Today on 30 Minutes, we’ll hear celebrated author Luis Alberto Urrea give the keynote address. Born in Tijuana to a Mexican father and an Anglo mother, he describes the change in border policies that he has seen in his own lifetime, as well as his resolve to Document the Border.

The Documented Border exhibit and digital archive shares original border-related research material collected and curated by University of Arizona Faculty along the US Mexico Border. This innovative open access archive documents personal stories of journalists who have been silenced and government processes that cannot be videotaped or photographed. The Documented Border can be accessed through the UA Libraries Special Collections.
