Show Notes

On September 23, 2015, the YWCA Southern Arizona hosted part three of their ongoing Community Discussion on Mass Incarceration.

Due to the ever growing numbers of neighbors who are being incarcerated as well as the collateral consequences, the YWCA Southern believes that this conversation is part of their social advocacy work and their mission of eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.

This set of workshops are part of the YWCA Southern Arizona’s ongoing year long Campaign for Racial Justice, held in conjunction with Tucson Urban League, Our Family Services program The Center for Community Dialogue, NAACP Tucson Chapter, and the Black Women’s Task Force.

Today on 30 Minutes, we’ll feature excerpts from remarks made at the 3rd Community Discussion on Mass Incarceration. This session focused on immigration detention. Speakers include human rights attorneys Margo Cowan and Isabel Garcia. This is part 2 of a 2 part series.
