30 Minutes features remarks made at a November 2017 event entitled Tucson Makers: Inspired by Women, presented by AIGA Arizona. This is part 1 of a 2 part series.

Tucson Makers Inspired by Women, presented by AIGA Arizona, is an annual fundraiser during Phoenix Design Week featuring fast-paced visual presentations by Tucson creatives. Throughout today’s program we’ll hear from three speakers who described how their creative work is intertwined with catalyzing change.

AIGA Board Member and Graphic Designer Julie Ray began the evening with an overview of AIGA and the Tucson Makers event and KXCI Executive Director Cathy Rivers was the MC.

Speakers included: Melani “Mele” Martinez who is a Lecturer in the UA Writing Program and Director of Tucson Flamenco Studio; Kylie Walzak who is the Lead Program Manager of Living Streets Alliance and the Cyclovia Tucson Coordinator; and photographer Jade Beall.

Recorded and produced by Amanda Shauger.
