Rodriguez_Cover_9780816530618 30 Minutes features an interview with Dr. Roberto Cintli Rodriguez author of Our Sacred Maiz is Our Mother: Indigeneity and Belonging in the Americas from UA Press. Dr. Rodriguez is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mexican American Studies in the University of Arizona. He will speak at a book signing at the Arizona State Museum on October 29, 2014 from 6-8pm along with Dr. Patrisia Gonzales, author of Red Medicine.

“If you want to know who you are and where you come from, follow the maíz.” That was the advice given to author Roberto Cintli Rodriguez when he was investigating the origins and migrations of Mexican peoples in the Four Corners region of the United States.

Rodriguez provides a highly unique and multifaceted account of the ways in which de-Indigenized communities have managed to preserve and pass on knowledge of their traditions across centuries.

Recorded and produced by Amanda Shauger.
