Ernesto Portillo, Jr., spoke with Dolores Huerta. She is the subject of the new documentary Dolores directed by Peter Bratt. At age 87 and still going strong, Dolores Huerta continues to be a leader in the fight for racial, class and gender equality. She was an equal partner co-founding the first farm workers union with Cesar and Helen Chavez which later went on to be the United Farm Workers. The new documentary Dolores highlights her enormous contributions. The program begins with the trailer for Dolores, which opened locally at the Loft Cinema on Friday, October 6, 2017. Dolores Huerta will be at the loft on Monday, October 9th for a post film Q & A.

Also in the program: Dolores Huerta is a frequent visitor to Tucson. In 2011 she told a story about labor leader Cesar Chavez’s mother Juana Chavez. The program ends with Corrido De Dolores Huerta #39 by Los Lobos & Carmen Moreno from Si Se Puede!
