Show Notes

2014-WLC-Logo YWCA Tucson Executive Director Kelly Fryer provides an overview of the YWCA mission and programs and discusses upcoming events. The YWCA will be cosponsoring a gubernatorial debate at the Jewish Community Center on Thursday, September 18th. The 26th Annual Women’s Leadership Conference takes place on Tuesday, September 23rd from 7:30- 2:00 at Loew’s Ventana Canyon. On Sunday, October 12th, the YWCA Tucson hosts an evening of hors d’oeuvres, haute couture and handbags. This first-annual fundraiser will include giant entertainment packed into one tiny night. P.O.P. is a celebration of women who are business owners, community leaders, creative spirits and courageous individuals.  Proceeds from this event, held in conjunction with the YWCA USA’s “Week Without Violence,” will support work to help domestic violence survivors become economically independent. Through the “Women’s Center for Economic Opportunity,” the YWCA Tucson helps empower more than 2500 women each year to create the change they wish to see in their own lives, careers and community.
