The Arizona sun shines year-round, but just how valued are renewables by the four Arizona Corporation Commission Candidates? And while the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) latest report indicates that more urgent measures are required to reduce global climate change, what can Arizonans do?
In addition to approving the filing of all articles of incorporation for businesses, the Arizona Corporation Commission has jurisdiction over the quality of service and rates charged by public service utilities. There are two positions open on the Commission, and four candidates (two from each party) are running to fill these positions: Rodney Glassman, Sandra Kennedy, Justin Olson, and Kiana Maria Sears. League of Women Voters member Vivian Harte spoke to all four candidates. With Proposition 127 also on the ballot in November, you’ll hear each candidate’s opinion and why they hold that opinion.
This is Part 6 of an 8 Part Series during the lead up to the 2018 November 6th General Election in which the League of Women Voters of Greater Tucson will interview candidates for State of Arizona offices. In addition, members of the League will be interviewed about topics that affect voters on local and national levels, including, what to know about registering to vote in Pima County, ballot propositions, voter suppression/voter expansion, removing voters from voter rolls, gerrymandering, restitution of voting rights (felons voting), election integrity, and the importance of every vote.
League member Vivian Harte serves as host of the program. To aid voters in making informed decisions at the polls, candidates for each respective position are being asked the same questions. KXCI 91.3 FM Community Radio is partnering with the League to air these interviews with the community.
